Parksville, BC – Summer 2015

The Board of Education and Superintendent of Schools for School District 69 (Qualicum) announce the following changes in our leadership complement for the upcoming year:

Ms. Francine Frisson, who was recently appointed as Acting Vice Principal of École Oceanside Elementary School with responsibility for District Language Programs, will have her acting status removed and will serve that school and the District in an ongoing capacity. We are pleased to have an educational leader with Ms. Frisson’s skills and experience as a member of our team.

Ms. Corleen McKinnon-Sanderson has been appointed as Vice Principal at Qualicum Beach Elementary School. Ms. McKinnon-Sanderson is a progressive and innovative educator who has served as a Vice Principal in the Kootenay Lake School District. Her most recent assignment saw her alternating time between a blended home learning program and a K-7 elementary school. Her leadership experience in elementary and distributed learning contexts, combined with experience as an elementary, secondary and alternate program teacher, will enrich the experiences of our learners at Qualicum Beach Elementary.

Mr. Bob Bate who has served as Manager of Special Projects and Innovation will have his designation changed to Principal of District Programs. He will maintain his responsibilities within the International Student Program and provide leadership in the following areas: Career Programs, Dual Credit and Post-Secondary Programs, Student Transitions, Community Partnerships, and District Program Development. Mr. Bate will support the work of teachers and school-based leaders in these key areas of our educational operations.

Ms. Annie Dufort, who has served for three years as a Principal and Vice Principal at Oceanside Middle and École Oceanside Elementary School and provided leadership to our French Immersion Program, has tendered her resignation and will be leaving employment with our District. We wish her well in her future endeavours.
